Funded by Stéphane Giroux, Myrabelle Charlebois and Dacha Rouleau-Dumont, Photomathon is an organism which wishes to promote and diffuse the works of young up and coming photographers from different cultures. Rooted in Montreal but operating through a network of international interests, Photomathon promotes exchanges and associations based upon conviviality. This conjuncture therefore allows us to reflect on the photographic and its different approximations in a much wider optic. On the fringe of large cultural institutions, Photomathon tries in this way, through action and collective dynamism, to make more available the local and international structure of diffusion to the new generation of photographers by organizing apart from other activities, collective itinerant exhibitions, which are therefore bound to travel in the different cities of origin of the participants. Through the establishment of these networks and collaborations, Photomathon positions itself as a link in between photography and the spectator, in between the alternatives of possible diffusion and the creative energy of its participants.
